"...let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

My first paper quilling project!! I'm so excited about this and so happy with the way it came out. I don't have a great camera though, so the picture is left wanting, BUT hopefully I can borrow my brother's REALLY NICE EXPENSIVE camera and take some better pics soon. I just wanted to get this in before the deadline.

This project took at least 10 hours of work, I'm not sure...I found paper quilling fairly easy to pick up, but I didn't get too fancy with all the different quilling shapes, just variations of the scroll. I got lots of inspiration on this website www.artyulia.com, she's really great at what she does.

There's only a few things I'd self-critique myself on: 1. the colored stips of paper I used are ever-so-slightly bigger than the white strips. 2. I had to crop the photo a bit because the finished piece is not very well centered, so you're missing about an inch off the left side! 3. I did my glueing on regular drawing paper and not cardstock (newbie mistake) so the paper is a little wavy now.

This is my entry for the Artisan Craft's "Try Something New" Challenge fav.me/d55ic98

I made the same mistake when I quilled my first piece. The paper underneath waved so much! Ah, we'll we live and learn! Turned out gorgeous...love it!

The 'shine' lettering really has a chrome feel to it, with the way the shadows and highlights play out. This Quilling art always looks so impressive. It's funny you don't see more of it around.

I don't even know where to start! How do you glue the paper down? I would probably make a total mess out of it.

lol...well...I checked out some books from the library, that helped. I had some tweezers I used to grab the paper and dip it in the glue!
